Planning and pre-trip info

If you want to skip the New York City days and go directly to the cruise days, click the post above.

It’s summer 2024 and it’s time to start traveling again. This time up, the Norwegian Joy out of New York City.

Last year we went to Bermuda on the Carnival Legend and were only there 2 days. Plus there was the whole tender issue which I blogged about on that sailing. While in port, the Norwegian Joy was in port with us and docked. We learned they stayed there 3 days so that’s why we chose to return to Bermuda with NCL. As soon as we got home from Baltimore, we booked this trip. If you’re new to my blog, welcome!! I try to be as detailed as possible when I write posts, to help people with budgeting and time allotment when planning their trips. That’s why you’ll see costs included in my journey. Of course with any prices, many things can always fluctuate but it gives you a baseline when planning your trips.

I booked this cruise on January 20, 2023 through Costco. Now if you’ve followed me in the past, you know I would never in a million years use a travel agent and I always advocate for people to avoid them. However, Costco was about $1200 cheaper than the NCL sticker price, plus we received a $250 gift card from Costco as well. It was a no-brainer. As seasoned cruisers, we knew the risk of using a travel agent/ third party so I was fine. Aside from making the booking on Costcos website, I didn’t need anything else from them.

The original itinerary was a day in Virginia Beach and 3 days in Bermuda. However a month after we booked, Virginia Beach was removed from the itinerary. I do not know why, but we live in Virginia so going to Virginia Beach isn’t exciting for us. We were fine with the extra sea day. Since we had several cruises between when we booked and the sail date, I went ahead and put this vacation on the backburner until later in the year.

Fast forward to August 2023, it was time to get ready for this trip and start planning. We decided to take Amtrak from Roanoke VA to New York. I booked our train tickets on August 22nd.  The train originates north in Roanoke and we’re always the first people on the train. Getting a seat is not an issue since the train is empty. However, we’ve taken the train back from DC many times and know it’s crowded, so I booked business class tickets returning home so we’d have seats together. The cost from Roanoke to NYC was $77.50 for 3 coach seats. The cost from NYC to Roanoke was $254.50 for 3 business class seats for a total of $332 for 3 round trip tickets.

Now that we secured our transportation to New York, it was time to find a good hotel. I swear I looked at every hotel in New York for weeks. I wanted a hotel that was a Hilton property, had laundry, had large rooms, had a fridge, had king beds and not queen/double beds, and was convenient to things. I searched and searched. Finally I decided on the Hilton Midtown, located at 1335 Avenue of the Americas. I was able to book the hotel for the week for $2,894.03. This hotel checked all of the boxes and they have a nice executive lounge for Hilton Diamond members.

By this time, we had created an itinerary of things we wanted to do so I was able to start making reservations online for everything we wanted to do. In New York City they have CityPass and other variants just like they do in every city but I prefer to book directly with the source so I have more flexibility. Flexibility is more important than price sometimes. So by December 2023 we had most of our reservations made for our June trip.

Fast forward to March. My wife realized we were heading to NYC on a Sunday. This meant she could not get Chick-Fil-A to take on the train for breakfast. What’s the best solution to this problem? Book an extra day! So I modified our trip with Amtrak and Hilton and decided to go up on Saturday instead of Sunday. Problem solved. 🙂 Now, we sit back and wait until May 25.

May 25, 2024 - Day 1
Welcome to New York!

17 months after booking this trip, the day is finally here. It’s time to head to New York City!

We woke up at 7am and got ready, loaded the car and had our son drive our car to take us to Roanoke for our train. We had an 8:45am departure time. We stopped at Chick-Fil-A on the way, and then got to the train station about 8:15am. The train was there a few minutes later. We gave our son a hug and loaded onto the train. Off to NYC we went!

The train ride north was very uneventful. Once we got past DC the train was full, but we had window seats and was comfy so we were good to go.

We arrived at Penn Station at 6:03pm. As soon as we got off the train we went outside of Penn Station and grabbed an UberXL to our hotel. It was about 2 miles away and the total was $57.30. We arrived at our hotel shortly afterward and was ready to relax. The digital key wasn’t working so I had to check-in at the hotel desk. Apparently the room I selected when I did my check-in was unavailable which is why I had to check-in. The receptionist said the hotel was sold out but I was guaranteed a room as a Diamond Hilton Honors member. After all, it was Memorial Day weekend.

We got our room on the 29th floor, room 2929. We dropped our luggage off, and decided to go get dinner and explore a bit.

We walked 2 blocks to Rockefeller Plaza to FAO Schwarz first and explored the store. I had to get my son on the piano! From FAO Schwarz we went over to Nintendo World to explore. He was most excited for this! It was cool, and they had a lot of Nintendo merch you could buy. He needed a new charger for his DS which they did not have, so I just ordered one on Amazon so it was at home when we returned.

After Nintendo World, we went over to the Lego Store. However they were SUPER busy so we skipped it. Instead we walked over to Bill’s Burgers. I do not remember the cost of this but I believe it was about $85 for the 3 of us to get burgers. The food was really good!

After we had dinner, we walked down to Time’s Square to check it out and do some shopping. We walked to the M&M’s Store first and checked it out, then walked over to Hershey’s Chocolate World. They had everything Hershey that you could think of. It was so good! We ended up buying my son a pair of Reese’s pants and 4 candy bars as well as a souvenir bag. The total at Hershey’s was $43.89.

From here, we walked back to the hotel. We were tired. We walked to NewsCorp first which was next to our hotel. I wanted some pictures of Fox & Fox Square. We watch The Five every day and Fox & Friends, so I wanted to see Fox Square. It was much smaller in person!

After we left NewsCorp, we went to a bodega and grabbed some drinks, then went back to the hotel for the night. We had long days ahead of us!

May 26, 2024 (Sunday)

We had a pedicab tour of Central Park scheduled on Monday but they were calling for rain, so they messaged me to see if we wanted to do our tour on Sunday. This was perfect!

We woke up Sunday morning to meet our pedicab driver at 9am close to our hotel at Broadway & W58th St in front of Farinella. It was a short 10 minute walk to the meeting spot.  I had booked with Frankie Legs on Facebook. The cost was $180 for 2 hours. We ended up riding with one of his partners, Josh.

Josh was fantastic. We hopped on his bike and off into Central Park we went. We saw the Gapstow Bridge first then continued on around the park seeing several movie scenes. We stopped at Bethesda Fountain for pictures. Many movies have been shot in this location.

From the Bethesda Fountain, we made our way over to the Bow Bridge. This is another popular bridge in Central Park. After we left Bow Bridge, we made our way over to the apartment where John Lennon and Yoko lived. We also saw the spot where John was killed at. After we left the apartment we went over to Strawberry Fields in Central Park. From there we went to Shakespeare’s Garden which was beautiful. We then headed over to Belvedere Castle to check it out, then rode a little more around Central Park and wrapped up our 2 hours in Central Park.

Once our tour with Josh was over, we walked over to The Plaza Hotel where Home Alone 2 was filmed. We walked around and checked out the hotel which was really nice. The hotel is nice and elegant.

After we left The Plaza Hotel, we walked down 5th Avenue shopping. My wife got her a new purse from Louis Vuitton, and then we went into Tiffany & Company so she could shop there also. She was so excited to shop at Tiffany & Co., and she explored all 6 floors.

After Tiffany & Co., we walked into Trump Tower. This was a beautiful building and we saw the escalator where President Trump came down to announce his candidacy for President of the United States. It was also depicted by The Simpsons! We continued down 5th Avenue shopping in various stores. Finally we were ready for lunch where we would stumble upon Abitino’s. We also found out how close this was to our hotel. We ate lunch at Abitino’s then went to the Lego Store again. This time it wasn’t so busy so we were able to go in. It was a great place with lots of Lego models put together. It was fantastic.

Once we left The Lego Store, we walked across the street to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. We see this church every day when watching The Five on Fox. It’s beautiful inside and out. I wanted to check it out more but it was a Sunday so there were 9873492 people there. I went in, snapped some photos and we left.

We had admission tickets for Top of the Rock tomorrow but as I mentioned, it was calling for rain. I had Express Tickets for Top of the Rock which allowed flexibility. We stopped in and asked if we could come today instead and the girl said sure. We went ahead and went to the top of Rockefeller Center to see all of New York City. The views from Top of the Rock were fantastic!! The cost for 3 Express tickets was $277.62. The great thing about the Express tickets was not only the flexibility to go whenever you wanted, but you skipped all of the lines. There were lines but we skipped them. It was worth it!! The only other thing I purchased was a magnet from their gift shop for $8.67.This included a 20% discount for having the Express tickets.

After we finished at Top of the Rock, we decided to go to DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) to get some photos and shop. We grabbed an UberXL with Rajibur and it was $44.84 for the 7.26mi 33min trip.

We checked out a little bit of Brooklyn and the DUMBO area before going to the Brooklyn Bridge to walk back to Manhattan. This was a fun and easy walk. However, there was a religious service on the bridge and it was pure chaos with tons of religious people in the middle. It took forever to complete the second half of the walk. I’d like to do this again except not on a Sunday and not when religious stuff is going on. If you’re going to do this, I’d recommend going to Brooklyn and walking back across the bridge to Manhattan, the views are better.

Once we got back into Manhattan, we walked by the courthouse where President Trumps trial was going on, as well as the courthouse used in the Law & Order opener. This was cool to see. Then we walked through Chinatown into the Bowery district where we had dinner reservations at Ainsley at 5:30pm. I had made these reservations on April 3. We made our way to Ainsley and finally got to sit down and get some water. I got spaghetti and my wife and son got burgers. The total at Ainsley was $105.30.

Once we left Ainsley, we got on the subway and went back to our hotel for the night. We were beat as it had been a long day. Once we got back to our hotel, we went across the street to Cafe 53 to get some drinks for the room. We got 4 sodas then went to our hotel room to take showers and call it a night. Tomorrow as Monday and another long day!

Steps: 22,769, 10.60 miles walked

May 27, 2024 (Monday, Memorial Day)

We woke up this morning and ate breakfast in the executive lounge at the hotel. Today was slated to be a more low key day. We’ll see how that goes! We first walked down to Time’s Square to shop some more and enjoy it in the morning without as many people. We started off at Carlo’s Bakery where we got 2 cookies and a croissant. The total here was $17.34. The cookies were very good though. Carlo’s is right in the heart of Time’s Square and you can’t miss it. Once we got our cookies, we went back to Hershey’s Chocolate World where we’d get some more candy. We ended up getting a bag of dreamcicle Twizzlers, a candy bar and a bag of Reese’s popcorn. The total was $15.73. It was supposed to rain today, a lot. However it didn’t so we got lucky!

After we left Hershey’s, we went to The Christmas Cottage to buy the 2 turtle dove ornaments from Home Alone 2. We bought the ornaments and 1 other ornament for $56.24. After we left The Christmas Cottage, we took the subway to Macy’s. Everyone needs to visit Macy’s in NYC, right? Miracle on 34th Street? The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Yeah! Plus, I needed some boxers. We browsed Macy’s and rode the 100 year old wooden elevator. This was cool to do. This Macy’s is GINORMOUS! There’s so many stores within this store such as It’s Sugar, Starbucks, Gucci, LV, Nike, you name it. I finally found my boxers. Now this may be TMI but I wanted to point out a price differential. I wear Tommy Hilfiger boxers and buy the 4pk of boxers for about $35. This is what I am used to paying for my boxers. I grabbed some at Macy’s in NYC and looked at the price tag, $65. Nope. I’ll buy some when I get home.

After we left Macy’s, we would then continue on down 7th Avenue shopping some more. We went into Lindt to get some chocolates. I order a ton from Lindt online, so it was only fitting to go into the store. I bought 0.43lb of chocolates and it was $13.93. I LOVE Lindt! There’s also a Ghiradelli store opening across the street later this year.

We continued down the road and ended up at the Empire State Building. We went inside to get some pictures and check out the building. It was nice and cool to say we’ve been inside the Empire State Building. After we left there, we went back into Time’s Square to eat dinner. We ended up going to Juniors in Time’s Square to eat. We were early so there wasn’t any wait. We got 2 sodas, 2 chicken sandwiches and a cheeseburger. The total was $90.64.

After we finished dinner, I had NBC Studio Tour tickets booked. I reserved these on April 8th for May 27th. For the 3 general admission tickets was $150.25. This was a very fun tour but unfortunately I couldn’t take any photos on the tour. We got to see a lot of the behind the scenes things at NBC for their broadcasting. We went to the studio where Saturday Night Live is shot Then we went to Jimmy Fallon’s studio. Both were cool to see in person. Both were very small, it’s amazing what they can do with “TV magic”. I really enjoyed this tour, even though I do not enjoy NBC programming. After the studio tour, we went back to the hotel and got some gummy bears and a drink for $19.04.

Steps: 16,057, 7.45 miles walked

May 28, 2024 (Tuesday)

We had a big day planned today so we got up early to begin our day. We started out our day by getting an Uber to Tribeca where we’d go to Hook & Ladder house 8, better known as the Ghostbusters HQ. It was $34.73 for the 4.81 mile 42 minute ride with Rickey. We enjoyed that area a bit then grabbed an Uber from there to the Intrepid Museum. That Uber was $30.83 for the 3.60 mile / 30 minute ride with Gabriel.

We made it to the Intrepid for our 10:30am timed admission. The tickets for the 3 of us to visit here was $98. It was nice, we started out on the flight deck checking out the various aircraft including the Concorde. From there we saw the Space Shuttle Enterprise. There are 4 space shuttles on display in the United States. We have now seen 3 of the 4 on display! The aircraft carrier USS Intrepid was cool but they have most of the ship blocked off. If you want to see an aircraft carrier I’d recommend Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant South Carolina. It’s a much better experience as you see so much more. From the USS Intrepid, we went into the USS Growler, which is the submarine on display as well. This was fun to go in. The submarine at Patriots Point has been sunk to create a reef so you can no longer visit it.

After we were done at the Intrepid Museum, we grabbed an Uber to go to the financial district. Darwin picked us up and took us to Wall Street for $26.62 for the 4.33 mile 26min ride. We walked around the FiDi area checking things out. First we stopped at Trinity Church, where Alexander Hamilton is burried. This was a very old church and the cemetery next to it was very old. It was neat to see Hamiltons gravesite.

After we left the Trinity Church, we walked down to The Charging Bull statue to grab a photo. I could not believe how many people were there to take a photo with the bull. It reminded me of the Southernmost Point in Key West, the Miami Beach sign, or the Las Vegas sign. We had to see it though! From there we walked over to the New York Stock Exchange. I wanted to tour this place, but there are no tours since 9/11. We grabbed pictures then walked to Fraunces Tavern where we had dinner reservations.

We were a little early for dinner, so we visited the museum upstairs first. The admission to the museum was $25 for the 3 of us. Fraunces Tavern is where George Washington gave his farewell address at. It was cool to see. After checking out the museum we went down to dinner. We had a bowl of macaroni & cheese, a cheeseburger, fish & chips, and 2 sodas. The total was $90.08.

After we ate at Fraunces Tavern, we walked back to the subway to head back to Time’s Square. We walked around Time’s Square a bit and went back to Carlo’s Bakery. Those cookies were good! We bought a cookie, 3 pieces of cake and a cannoli. The total was $51.72 for this. We had our sweets so back to the hotel we went for the night.

May 29, 2024 (Wednesday)

We had an early morning today. One thing we knew we wanted to do on this trip, was visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I also knew that this booked out far in advance, so I made our reservations on December 31 for a May 29 visit. I booked Crown Access, Early Access tickets. The cost for the 3 of us to go to the crown was $66.90. We also wanted do to the Hard Hat Tour at Ellis Island to see the old hospital. I booked this on January 4th. The cost for the 3 of us was $225.00 for the Hard Hat Tour. It was well worth it! We got up early and hopped on the subway to head to Battery Park. We had a 9am entry time so we got to Battery Park early. The first thing we had to do was go to Castle Clinton to show them our QR code and get the wristbands. Then we lined up at security to get on the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. The line moved pretty quick and efficiently. There was airport style security to go through prior to getting on the ferry.

Once we arrived on the island, we went straight to the statue to go to the crown. We beat the crowd and lines! There was 1 party ahead of us and we climbed the 192 spiral step staircase from the top of the pedestal to the crown. It was narrow, steep and hot. We made it though! We spent about 10 minutes at the top in the crown talking to the rangers, learning about the statue. It was some great views from the top. Then we began to make our way back down.

Once we exited the Statue of Liberty, we walked around the island getting pictures and checking it out. We took it all in. Then we went into the gift shop where I bought 2 magnets and my son wanted a coin. The total there was $33.59. Then we went to the cafe on the island to grab lunch. It was a typical theme park style cafe setup but surprisingly the food wasn’t bad. We got a chicken tender basket, a cheeseburger, fries, and 3 drinks. The total here was $41.00.

Once we were done eating, we hopped on the ferry to leave the Statue of Liberty and head over to Ellis Island. We toured the public areas of Ellis Island and checked it all out. Once we were done, we began our Hard Hat Tour. This tour was fantastic as it was only 6 of us in the group. We went into the old hospital and checked it out. It was amazing and definitely something I would do again. To know the history of Ellis Island was cool but to see it and learn more about it was just amazing. I highly recommend this to everyone!

I did go into the Ellis Island gift shop where I bought a keyring and another magnet. I spent $19.49 in here.

Facts:

20,000 people visit the Statue of Liberty each day.

5,000 people go to the pedestal each day.

500 people visit the crown each day.

After we finished at Ellis Island, we took the ferry back to Battery Park in Bowling Green where we got on the subway and headed toward dinner. We had reservations at The Dawson for dinner. The Dawson was nice, but very loud. The food was good as was the service. We got 2 burgers, 3 drinks and a chicken sandwich. The total here was $100.23.

We left the Dawson and went walking. We ended up walking to the New York Public Library and checking it out. It was cool inside and many movies were shot here. We walked out of the library to Bryant Park. There were 398742987 people doing yoga in this park. Apparently it’s a public group thing here? We then went to the Vans store to buy my son a shirt. We wanted a New York Vans shirt which we found here and bought for $30.05. After we left here, we headed back to the hotel for the evening. It had been a long day!

Steps: 21,287, 10.00 miles walked

May 30, 2024 (Thursday)

We had another early morning today. Something I knew we had to do was the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. On January 4th I booked our tickets for May 30. I booked the “Early Access Museum Tour” and for the 3 of us was $222.00 for an 8am admission, before it opened to the general public. We got up and grabbed the subway to the World Trade Center. We were a little early so we checked out the Oculus first. This was a neat structure to see. Finally it was 8am and time for our tour. I was so glad we did the early access tour because we had a small intimate group of about 8 people, and we were the only people in the museum other than workers. It was fantastic. The museum is built around the original footprint of the twin towers. We saw the sludge walls, a crushed firetruck, a mangled ambulance, the radio antenna that was on top of the WTC, and many things that were in and around the WTC on 9/11. I will warn you if you go, this is a very emotionally draining museum. For younger folks who weren’t alive in 2001 or non-Americans it may not be as bad but if you were alive in the US on 9/11, it’s definitely an emotional place to be. I highly recommend going here if you can, and doing the early access passes. It’s worth it. Once we were finished with the inside museum, we went outside to the memorials. Each day, the staff put a white rose on any name that has a birthday on that day.

After we left the 9/11 Memorial, we got on the subway and went to The Friend’s Experience. My wife is a huge fan of the TV show “Friends” so this was a big hit for her. I had booked our tickets to this back on March 18th. I purchased 3 Ultimate Tickets for $254.43. The Ultimate Tickets give you anytime access, unlimited photos and a discount in the gift shop. We arrived and went into The Friends Experience! Now, I never watched Friends so I can’t really say much about what we saw. I know we saw the couch, the apartments, Central Perk, and lots of props from the TV show. She really enjoyed this! We ended up getting all 16 photos printed as well as sent to us digitally. My wife bought 2 shirts and a reusable bag for $80.23. We also got 3 of the Central Perk mugs for free with our passes.

After we finished at Friend’s, we stopped at Abitino’s for lunch.

After we left Abitino’s we decided to finish out our Friends day at the Friends apartment. So off to the Friends apartment we went for photos! After we got photos of the Friends apartment, we walked through Chinatown again then through Little Italy. Little Italy was probably our favorite area. While there, we saw a fire truck and asked the firefighter if they had patches. He said yes at their house. So we walked down to Engine 55 house. We waited on the engine to return and I ended up getting 2 FDNY patches and a t-shirt from them for $30. They lost 6 heroes on 9/11 and had some things in their house from that day. They were fantastic to us! Thank you FDNY Engine 55!!

Once we left the FDNY, we headed to dinner. I had dinner reservations at Friedman’s inside of Hotel Edison. This is a Broadway dinner where they sing while you eat. It was fun, but wasn’t the best. Definitely a one and done for us. We had 2 drinks, 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich. Our total was $107.84.

After dinner, we went back to the hotel to call it a night.

Steps: 17,738, 8.29 miles walked

May 31, 2024 (Friday)

Today we decided to head down to the Hudson Yards area of the city. We took the subway to Chelsea Market to begin our day. We walked around Chelsea Market and checked out all of the little shops and diners in there. It was a neat place to visit. Then we walked over to Little Island to spend a little time there. Little Island was neat with some good views. From Little Island, we walked down to Pier 57 to explore that area. It was neat. Unfortunately we were early and Chelsea Market and Pier 57 didn’t have too much going on early in the morning.

After we left Pier 57 we decided to walk the High Line. This was really cool and something we’d love to do again. We walked from Chelsea all the way to the Vessel. It was a fantastic walk with great views along the way. Once we got to the end of the High Line, we hopped on the subway and went to Grand Central Terminal to grab lunch. We ended up getting pizza at Prova inside Grand Central. We got 3 slices of pizza and some garlic knots and the total was $25.04.

After we left Grand Central, my son was dying to see the United Nations. He’s a 12 year old vexiologist and loves flags and foreign nations. We let him soak in the United Nations for a while, then walked along FDR down to NYU Langone to see the dalmatian statue. We relaxed here for a bit before walking to a subway stop on Madison Ave. We got on the subway and headed toward dinner.

We had dinner reservations at the Knickerbocker. This was a very nice restaurant and many celebrities eat here. It’s also where Harry Connick Jr got his start! The service was good and the food was great. We got a burger, spaghetti and steak. The total was $141.40 for the 3 of us. We wanted to go back the next night but my son wanted to go back to Ainsley so we didn’t. We’ll definitely go back to Knickerbocker next year though!

After dinner, we went back to Time’s Square to walk around a little bit. While there, we went to Hershey’s again. (See a pattern here? lol)… I ended up getting 4 candy bars and my son got some Reese’s hot chocolate and the total was $21.82. After we were done in Time’s Square, we went back to the hotel to call it a night. We walked a ton today it felt like.

June 1, 2024 (Saturday)

Today started out very low key. We had a bunch of purchases while in New York as well as a ton of laundry. So today was some “general housekeeping” for us. We started the day off by me grabbing an Uber and going to do some laundry. I went to Sally’s to have it done. Felix picked me up in his Uber and took me the 2.15 mile 22 minute ride for $23.19. I spent about $30 on the coin washer and dryers but was able to get all of our laundry cleaned. The laundry mat is very small and they do offer self service. Our hotel also offers valet laundry but it would have been about $400 to have our laundry done. It was worth it to me to do it myself. While I was gone doing laundry, my wife and son walked to a nearby UPS store to send our shoes and purchases back home to us so we didn’t have to pack anything. It was $50.98 at the UPS store. The package arrived while we were still on vacation safely.

Once the laundry was done, I called for an Uber to come pick me up. Maman arrived in a NYC taxi which I thought was weird but apparently if Uber doesn’t get a driver fast, taxis can pick up the fare at the Uber cost. He picked me up in his taxi van and took me 2.17 miles back to the hotel in 15 minutes for $22.48.

Once I got back to the hotel, I grabbed my wife and son and we hopped on the subway to head to Roosevelt Island. We took the Roosevelt Tram over to the island and walked around checking it out. We walked down to the Small Pox Hospital and the FDR Hope Memorial. We then hopped on the red bus to ride around Roosevelt Island to check out all it had to offer. We really enjoyed RI and will return again! We took the tram back over to the mainland and then went to dinner at Ainsley again. We got pizza, spaghetti and steak and 3 drinks. The total this night was $92.54. This was our last dinner in New York!

After dinner, we went back to the hotel to relax.

Steps: 16,070, 7.56 miles walked

Today was our last day in New York. It was embarkation day for the cruise! We had a lot of fun in New York City, and we have a cruise scheduled from there next year also so we’ll be back. We’ll also be back at the same hotel as well. It was a perfect location for us. My son did not like the city since it had so many people. We are conservative country people in the south. We were definitely out of our element in a liberal northern city but it was fun to visit. We will also go back to see NYC at Christmas as well. I really enjoyed NYC but prefer to sail from Miami. NYC didn’t disappoint though!

Total steps walked in NYC: 138,877
Total miles walked in NYC: 65

This vacation continues, today is Sunday and it’s embarkation day for the cruise!! To continue reading, click below.
